Pharmacology

The Department of Pharmacology provides an insight into the pharmacological spectrum of medicines. The department possess well equipped laboratory furnished with latest instruments that includes Infra Red Actimeter System, Cook’s Pole Climbing Apparatus, Electroconvulsiometer, Digital Plethysmometer, Rota Rod Apparatus, Analgesiometer, Actophotometer, Eddy’s Hot Plate, etc.

The other basic infrastructure in the laboratory includes Sherrington rotating drums, Tissue organ bath, Levers, Dissection trays and incineration chamber. The department has an approved animal house as per CPSCEA guidelines with about 500 experimental animals including albino mice, SD rats, wistar rats, guinea pigs and rabbits for academic and research oriented pre-clinical studies.

The department takes pride in conducting in-vitro and in-vivo studies in collaboration with the department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry with sole aim to serve the research purpose. The department undertakes various subjects such as Human Anatomy and Physiology, Anatomy, Physiology & Pathophysiology, Pharmacology, Pharmacotherapeutics, Hospital & Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice.

The department endeavours to start up the post graduate degree course (M.Pharm in Pharmacology) soon.
